CLUB CONSTITUTION

 

Crescent Cricket Club has adopted the following Discipline Regulations, which are based on the ECB Model Discipline Regulations and adapted for its own purposes. 

Aims and Jurisdiction 

These regulations apply to any player who plays for Crescent Cricket Club and is intended to provide assistance and uniformity to all clubs in dealing with any alleged breach of the Code of Conduct and The Spirit of Cricket. It is intended that any alleged breach of the Code of Conduct and The Spirit of Cricket should be reported to and dealt with by Crescent Cricket Club’s Disciplinary Committee. The Disciplinary Committee Chairman, Club Secretary, and Club Captain will make up Crescent Cricket Club’s Disciplinary Sub-Committee.

These regulations apply to any player who plays for Crescent Cricket Club and is intended to provide assistance and uniformity to all clubs in dealing with any alleged breach of the Code of Conduct and The Spirit of Cricket. It is intended that any alleged breach of the Code of Conduct and The Spirit of Cricket should be reported to and dealt with by Crescent Cricket Club’s Disciplinary Committee. The Disciplinary Committee Chairman, Club Secretary, and Club Captain will make up the Club’s Disciplinary Sub-Committee.

Any Crescent Cricket Club member or volunteer requested to attend a Disciplinary Sub-Committee shall be entitled to be accompanied by a friend or other representative and to call witnesses.

Crescent Cricket Club is committed to maintaining the highest standards of behaviour and conduct. This Code of Conduct incorporates The Spirit of Cricket, as set out below. It applies to all matches played by a team representing Crescent Cricket Club. The captains are responsible at all times for ensuring that play is conducted within The Spirit of Cricket as well as within the Laws.

Unsatisfactory conduct shall include, but not be limited to:

  1. Players and team officials must at all times accept the umpire’s decision.
  2. Players must not show dissent at the umpire’s decision or react in a provocative or disapproving manner towards another player or a spectator.
  3. Players and team officials shall not intimidate, assault or attempt to intimidate or assault an umpire, another player or a spectator.
  4. Players and team officials shall not use crude and/or abusive language (known as “sledging”) nor make offensive gestures or hand signals nor deliberately distract an opponent.
  5. Players and team officials shall not make racially abusive comments nor indulge in racially abusive actions against fellow players, officials, members and supporters.
  6. Players and team officials shall not use or in any way be concerned in the use or distribution of illegal drugs.

Procedure 

Any alleged breach of the Code of Conduct and The Spirit of Cricket should be reported to the Club Secretary. Upon receipt of such a complaint, the Crescent Cricket Club Disciplinary Committee will convene as soon as reasonably practicable to consider the complaint and resolve the issue: 

  1. To take no action except to record the complaint; or
  2. To impose the appropriate penalty

Penalties

If the Crescent Cricket Club Disciplinary Committee finds the misconduct proved, it shall have the following powers: 

  1. To require the player to write letter(s) of apology within a specified time.
  2. To record a reprimand and to give a warning as to future conduct.
  3. To impose a fine, or equivalent such as unpaid work for the benefit of Crescent Cricket Club.
  4. To suspend the player’s right to be considered for selection by the club to play in one or more matches.
  5. To suspend the player’s membership of the club for a period.
  6. If the conduct constitutes gross misconduct the club shall have the power to terminate the player’s membership forthwith. The club for the same offence may, if it is thought fit, impose more than one of the above penalties.

Appeals Procedure

The player has the right to appeal to the club’s President or the President’s nominee to review the findings of the Internal Club Enquiry and any imposed penalties. The decision of the President or his nominee in all cases will be final and binding.
